The complete, 5-module InSTeP training course with Certificate of Completion is available for $50.
An accurate clinical examination of a person with a spinal cord injury is a medical and legal diagnosis, predicts recovery, frames rehabilitation and health care, and is essential for research. One of the major contributions of ASIA has been the development of the International Standards for the Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injuries (the Standards). The Standards are the accepted gold standard for the examination for spinal cord injury in research and clinical care. Performance of the Standards examination is not easy. It requires an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, neurology and manual muscle testing, plus training with the scoring and classification system. It also requires physical skills to perform the actual hands for the examination of strength and sensation. To promote the teaching and competent use of the Standards, ASIA with contribution from the International Spinal Cord Society has developed the International Standards Training e-Learning Program or InSTeP.

InSTeP is designed for physicians, therapists, nurses, and researchers who participate in spinal cord injury care and research as well as for therapy students and resident physicians. Users who pass the assessments associated with the course at a rate of 80% or higher receive a Certificate of Completion. The course concludes with a short evaluation asking you to provide feedback on the InSTeP course content. This course will be available for your use for 6 months from the time you launch the first module. It is recommended that you study the modules in order.

Certificate of Completion:
Once you have completed the course, you can access your Certificate by clicking certificate icon on the right-hand side of your Learning Plan. This certificate is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance.
