ISNCSCI Training Program

International Standards for Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury

The premier North American organization in the field of Spinal Cord Injury care, education and research, ASIA provides unparalleled training excellence in the administration, scoring and interpretation of the International Standards for Neurological Classification of Spinal Cord Injury (ISNCSCI).

Institution and/or Hospital ISNCSCI Training

When assessing persons with spinal cord injuries, the testing methods of staff, clinicians or researchers, may (or may not) be consistent within their own institutions & hospitals, and these approaches are subject to wide variability throughout the spinal cord injury community.  Standardization in conducting, and subsequently interpreting, the ISNCSCI assessment is essential for proper diagnosis, documentation and comparative assessment in any setting.

Hospital and Institution on-site or virtual ISNCSCI training includes:

  • InSTeP online modules
  • Dissemination and training of the International Standards to the entire SCI community, including current and standardized material useful for both research and clinical practice
  • A specialized ASIA-certified faculty for serving the unique needs of your Hospital and/or Institution
  • Thoroughly developed and comprehensive training materials
  • Standardization among all SCI Professionals, regardless of specialty or department
  • Confidence that your SCI team has received accurate and systematic training in the ISNCSCI examinations and classification
  • Follow-up or post-training support for first six months following training

For more information about ASIA’s ISNCSCI Training program, please contact Patty Duncan at patty@asia-spinalinjury.org

Clinical Trial Training

When assessing spinal cord injured patients and potential research subjects, the methods of staff, clinicians and researchers may be consistent within their own institutions, but these approaches are subject to variables throughout the wider-ranging field of SCI.  Standardization in interpreting, and subsequently conducting, the ISNCSCI assessment in clinical trials is vital to trial outcomes and efficacy measurements.

ASIA’s Clinical Trial Training Program provides on-site or virtual ISNCSCI training for investigative sites.  Assessor training includes:

  • InSTeP online modules
  • Dissemination and training of the International Standards to the entire SCI community, including current and standardized material useful for both research and clinical practice
  • A specialized ASIA-certified faculty for serving the unique needs of industry
  • Thoroughly developed and comprehensive training materials
  • Standardization among all assessors, regardless of specialty or department
  • Confidence that your SCI clinical trial site has received accurate and systematic training in the ISNCSCI examinations and classification
  • Follow-up or post-training support for first six months following training

For more information about ASIA’s Clinical Trial Training program, please contact Patty Duncan at patty@asia-spinalinjury.org

Join the Training Team

ASIA’s development and rigorous oversight of the International Standards are unparalleled.

Industry sponsors of clinical trials launch the execution of new research from the established base of the ISNCSCI.  ASIA is uniquely positioned through faculty expertise and first-hand command of the International Standards to provide accurate and systematic training in the ISNCSCI examination and classification process. Reliance on ASIA’s Clinical Trial Training Program by sites participating in clinical trials strengthens a full-circle, vetted process that ultimately results in improved outcomes for the SCI community.

Trainers are ASIA members and medical professionals who have a high level of experience with training and education and expertise in the ISNCSCI assessment.

If you have the time, energy and skill set to be a part of the Clinical Trial Training team, please contact Patricia Duncan patty@asia-spinalinjury.org
