Amy Bohn, OT – 2024 Fellow of ASIA (FASIA)

Amy Bohn is an occupational therapist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in the hand and upper extremity program. Her interest in spinal cord injury began in high school when her grandmother and close friend both went through spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Over the years, Amy has had the opportunity to develop expertise in treating both pediatric and adult spinal cord injury and complex neurological diagnosis across the continuum of care including ICU, inpatient rehabilitation, day program, outpatient, home health, and community programs.

Amy created neurological based hand and upper extremity programs at both adult and pediatric based hospitals. She has completed presentations on management of the upper extremity in acute, rehabilitative, and chronic phases of spinal cord injury on local, national, and international levels as well as has publications focusing on management of upper extremity in neurologic patients.

Amy is actively involved in the SCI community outside of the hospital setting. She was on the founding committee for the Ms. Wheelchair Pennsylvania pageant, coached for junior wheelchair racing program, worked with adaptive swimming, adaptive water-skiing, and adaptive rowing programs. Amy served on the board of The Dreams of Recovery Foundation whose focus was to raise money and provide funding for therapy/equipment for individuals with SCI.

Amy’s passion over the years has been around the sport of wheelchair rugby. She has coached nationally and internationally, provided instructional clinics, and in recent years became a classifier. Amy is currently on the leadership team, member of safety committee, and the Head of Classification for wheelchair rugby in US.

Amy has been active in ASIA over the years contributing as a moderator at conferences, speaker, co-chair for 2023 pre-course, member on the rehabilitation standards committee and program committee, and is an ISNCSCI instructor for the organization.
