| Dear Colleagues,
It is with sorrow that we inform you of the death of our friend and colleague Dr. Mary Bartlett Bunge who passed away on February 17th, 2024. Dr. Bunge was a dedicated scientist and an important member of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and our academic community. Dr. Mary Bunge was the ASIA 2001 Sell lecturer, presenting for her beloved husband Dr. Richard Bunge who had passed shortly before he could present his lecture. Together – as fitting – they were awarded the 2018 ASIA Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to these many accomplishments and honors, Dr. Bunge was an incredible teacher and mentor. She trained numerous graduate and postdoctoral fellows who went on to become leaders in the fields of cell biology, neuroscience, and Schwann cell transplantation. Dr. Mary Bunge will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her and had the privilege of learning from this special scholar who contributed so much to her scientific field. |
